Effervescent is the general name for medicines that release gas or bubbles when reacted with water or any other liquid.
Effervescent tablets contain minerals. These minerals cause bubbles and gases to form when the effervescent tablet dissolves. Effervescent tablets, which dissolve when reacting with liquids, are often used in the production of supplements such as vitamins.
An effervescent tablet is a type of medicine that dissolves in water. Thanks to its gas and minerals, when it enters water, a reaction occurs and a bubble is produced. With this bubble, the effervescent tablet starts to dissolve in water.
Effervescent tablets are usually produced in a round shape and are packaged in plastic bottles that look like cylinders.
Effervescent tablets offer different advantages compared to ordinary tablets. Unlike others, these tablets are in pharmaceutical/nutraceutical dosage form. Therefore, there are some considerations when filling effervescent tablets.
Pharmarosso carries out R&D and production at European standards in its highly technologically equipped laboratories and facilities. As Pharmarosso, we have a daily capacity of 100 thousand effervescent tablet filling.
First of all, it is important to know that effervescent tablets are a type of tablet that can be compressed. The compression process for this type of tablet is slightly different from that for ordinary tablets. Effervescents require very low moisture content for long-term storage – typically less than 0.3% versus about 2% water in conventional tablets. It should also be noted that effervescent tablets do not achieve sufficient hardness due to their large size and are sensitive medicines.
If the delicacy and relative softness of effervescent tablets are ignored, breakage or damage to the tablets may occur during tablet assembly. Breakage and damage are most likely to occur during effervescent tablet assembly or effervescent tablet filling. To avoid this problem, the holding time should be extended by changing the pre-compression device of the ablet press.
When filling effervescent tablets with a non-lubricated machine, the molds must be operated with precision. In this case, tablets may adhere to the mold walls or punch surfaces during filling. If adhesion problems are not desired during effervescent tablet arrangement or effervescent tablet filling, a small amount of lubrication is absolutely necessary.
Effervescent tablet material is first pressed into tablet form. As it is pressed, the surface area of the material is greatly reduced during filling. This results in less moisture that can be absorbed from the air. Thus, removing moisture from the ambient air during the effervescent filling process becomes a less critical action.
For effervescent tablet filling, transparent tablet packaging or tube labels are used. Aluminum with low water permeability should be preferred to prevent the tablets from becoming airtight during filling. This prevents unwanted contact between the tablets and the solvent, thus protecting the tablet. In addition, silica gel and other desiccants should be added to the tube cap during effervescent tablet assembly and effervescent tablet filling. In this way, the air entering the tablets through the tube cap cannot damage the effervescent tablets inside the tube.
Getting an accurate diagnosis can be one of the most impactful experiences you can have.
